Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata, located in Jardim, MS, offers several ecotourism and adventure tours.
The main attraction is the snorkeling. The tour starts with a trail that leads to the main spring of Olho d´Água River, where the snorkeling downstream begins. The sensation is to be floating in an immense aquarium of crystalline waters, surrounded by acquatic vegetation and fishes of many species. The snorkeling continues downstream until the meeting of Olho d´Água and Prata rivers. At this point, the visitor can choose between continue floating or embarking on a small boat with electric motor. The tour ends at the stone deck of Prata River.
To ensure quality, safety and nature respect, the groups are size limited to a maximum of nine visitors and are always accompanied by a specialized local guide. The proper equipment for the Snorkeling is provided at the ranch and constitutes of neoprene wetsuits and shoes, mask and snorkel. It is included in the tour price, as well as the insurance and the guide.
Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata also offers other ecotourism tours, such as Scuba Diving, Horseback riding and Birdwatching. And at the end of the tours, a ranch-style lunch with regional dishes and sweets awaits for you.
Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata created a model of sustainable ecotourism and has sought excellence in operation, resulting in an ecotourism product of significant quality. The tour is developed within a RPPN - Private Reserve of Natural Heritage - a private unit of nature conservation that allows perpetual protection of the area, created by the owner´s will. For those reasons, the tour has received several awards, including being considered the Best Tourist Attraction of Brazil in 2008 and 2009 by readers of Brazil´s most respected Travel Guide - Guia 4 Rodas. In 2008, the tour also won the ECO Award, launched by Amcham (American Chamber of Commerce), in the category Management for Sustainability, small companies. And the paper The model of sustainable ecotourism of Recanto Ecológico Rio da Prata won the 2008 edition of Brazil´s Environmental Award in the category Best Ecotourism Case.
